Helping you become a better and more knowledgable wine taster.
VIRTUAL TASTING GROUP.
EDUCATION. RESOURCES. COMMUNITY.

Whether you’re pursuing a wine certification or you are a dedicated student of wine…
Learning about wine shouldn’t have to feel daunting and lonely.
It should feel welcoming and exciting! Wine is meant to be shared, and so is the process of learning about it.

So why is it so hard to find real mentorship?

Why do resources seem so unnecessarily overwhelming?

Why does wine education still often feel exclusive and well… stuffy?
In truth, it doesn’t have to!

I know what it’s like. I’ve worked my way through these challenges…
multiple times.
Hi. I’m Kendeigh! I have been a student of wine for over a decade, obtaining the Court of Master Sommelier’s Intro and Certified exams, becoming a Certified Specialist of Wine, and completing my WSET 3. I am currently pursuing my WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines.
You could definitely say I have a (shameless) obsession! I set off on this journey in 2014, and although enthralling … it was not easy.

SO MANY things to remember about wine tasting.

Finding other people to taste with was a serious struggle.

Staying consistent with studying and tasting practice was a huge challenge.

Knowing what wines were best to use to study was overwhelming.

Doing all of this without going broke was incredibly stressful.

I learned the hard way. You don’t have to!
Over the course of my experience, I have learned that the best, and I would argue the only way to truly increase your knowledge and understanding of wine is through tasting wines with others. Which coincidentally is what seems to be the hardest thing to come by.
When we taste wine together, not only do we all get to learn together, but we also form friendships and connections that can last a lifetime and elevate our careers. A lot of learning about wine certainly can be done by yourself… in fact a good bit of it HAS to.
But books can’t teach taste collaboratively. Blogs can’t truly compare the smells of a wine. Podcasts can’t help you understand how you taste a particular flavor versus other people. You MUST taste with people to understand wine better!
So I created
The Grape Grind Tasting Group

What members are saying
I love the virtual community that Kendeigh has created! It’s great for tasters of any level that want to level up their tasting skills. Even though I’m not preparing for an exam, the club has helped maintain my tasting skills, especially as we see the typicity of wines shifting due climate change!
I originally joined the Blind Tasting Group as a fun way of connecting with wine lovers during the pandemic. I ended up making some great friendships that will last forever. I will admit, there were times I didn’t think I’d fit in but Kendeigh’s guidance and support dispelled that in no time. As a result of the group, I completed my WSET II. I’d recommend the group for anyone; enthusiast, or avid learner, there’s a place for everybody!
Love how I am constantly challenged with the variety of wines each month! I learn so much from listening to what the other tasters are saying about each wine and how it makes me think out of the box when deducting each wine.
This is a knowledgeable group who shares their tasting prowess with no judgement. Great for anyone, of any wine level, with a goal of understanding what’s in their wine glass. For those of us battling through WSET or other wine qualifications, this group is a safe haven.
Don’t slog through learning and tasting in isolation.

Wine is meant to be shared, and so is the the process of learning about it.

Got more questions? We’ve got answers!
Do I have to be a student or can this just be done as a fun monthly activity?
Open Label lineups are especially geared for all! Enthusiasts benefit from learning more about varieties and regions, and students can practice and build on what they know!
The Blind Tasting format was created with students in mind. This group is ideal if you are studying for a blind tasting portion of an exam (as it mimics an in-person blind tasting group and follows an exam format). It’s also open to those who want to sit in and learn the ins and outs of blind tasting…or just get started! We have all levels present, and it’s incredibly welcoming!
There is also the option to practice the blind tasting individually by purchasing wines and watching the related videos on your own time, and then joining the Zoom meetup whenever you are comfortable!
Where do the wines come from?
Open Label lineups have wine lists with links to accessible online shops like wine.com (where you can purchase the bottles immediately) OR you can print the list and bring it to your favorite wine shop, to pick out the bottles yourself (or ask a retailer to help you choose)! There are suggestions listed for each region, and while you don’t have to pick those exact wines, make sure you do choose a bottle from the specific sub-region listed.
Blind Tasting lineups are sent via Accent Wine if you choose to join the call. Sometimes Accent is unable to ship to your state. If that is your situation, I have other partner retailers and I’m able to find similar wines! Please reach out HERE if Accent is unable to ship to your state! (Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, OR Utah)
*Blind Tasting with a group doesn’t work well unless everyone is able to compare the same (or very similar) bottles, so this group doesn’t have a self-purchase option for the call. However, there are lists for you to download and purchase our lineup on your own (or send to a partner/friend to purchase and pour for you) if you want to practice independently!
How many wines are included?
We base each tasting on a three bottle lineup!
For Open Label you can order as many bottles as you’d like! The best experience would be to grab a bottle for each variety/region listed on the wine list (wines 1-3). Sometimes the wine lists include ‘optional wines’ if you want to taste more than 3! I would suggest tasting along with at least 2 wines, so you can compare them!
Blind Tasting kits include 3 bottles (can be any assortment of whites/reds based on our theme).
*If you are ordering from Accent, you have a 3-bottle or a 6-bottle option! The 3-bottle is what we use on our Zoom meetup, and the 6-bottle includes those wines PLUS a bonus set of three (this is a perfect setup if you are studying for an exam and want extra bottles for practice!)
Can I join the calls with a group?
Absolutely! Invite your friends to share in the experience! Some groups split the cost and get together to share a screen!
Can I pause or cancel my membership
Yes you can easily manage your subscription and change it as needed. You will always get an email a week before your subscription renews.
