Tasting Group is a service and an opportunity to taste “blind” with a group of students, industry members, and professionals!
This is invaluable if you are studying for an exam, but also helpful if you’d like to know the ins and outs of identifying certain varieties without bias.

You may have been involved in or heard of “tasting groups”, where people meet and blind taste together (often for an exam). ⁣⁣

I’ve been part of many and led one of my own in-person for three years before Covid hit. ⁣⁣

Forming my own tasting group helped me pull things from other groups that I liked:⁣⁣

This Tasting Group is geared toward the wine student (or the aspiring student). It’s a valuable opportunity if you are studying for the blind tasting portion of an exam, but there is also always room for anyone who wants to sit in and learn the ins and outs …or just get started!!

Ideally, it will challenge you, but also be an enjoyable experience …and most of all, a safe space to learn and ask questions!

What are the details???

You’ll receive tasting bundles monthly, depending on the chosen tier below. Bundles are carefully curated and typically follow some sort of theme (blends, low vs high acid, etc). Almost all of the time these are classic “testable” varieties, but occasionally there’s something incredibly fun and outside of the box, thrown in. Why? Because it’s exciting and we sometimes need reminders as to why we love the versatility! But, like I said, typically classic and always great quality!

Format

In addition to the bundles, you’ll have the option of jumping on a member call over Zoom monthly (always the first and third Monday of each month (5pm PT / 8pm ET) to blind taste with others and talk about the wines and the related theme. Wines will be blind tasted in groups of 6-10. Groups will be composed of various tasting levels and certifications. Ideally, there will always be a few people within your certification or at your level!

💭After each call, I grab feedback from everyone to make sure the flow feels good, and you are in groups where you feel challenged, but comfortable! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣

This is not an exclusive group, anyone is welcome, however, it is NOT a class or blind tasting 101. It will follow the typical structure of a blind tasting group.

*Although we may discuss the tasting methods used with various certifications, this group is not affiliated in any way with The Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET, or any other certification group
