I’ll start …

”The most overused word in the wine industry is Terroir. I personally really don’t like this word. I rarely use it. I think Environment is more applicable, easier for consumers to understand, and just sounds better overall. It’s not going anywhere, I know - it’s rooted in tradition…it’s just not my word”

I was listening to the @guildsomm podcast last week with @karenmacneilco which inspired this Q. All perspective is great for conversation and thinking about how we talk about wine. Great episode linked in my stories *go give it a listen!

Also …I agree that everyone has now adopted the word “approachable” and it’s starting to lose it’s flair 🤷🏼‍♀️

Had a lot of fun tasting and creating this video to showcase this compound!
Grab these wines and taste along with me:

🍷Cabernet Sauvignon from Bordeaux
🍷Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile
🍷Cabernet Franc from Chinon
🍷Carmenere from Chile

This is a great one to do ‘blind’ or just side by side.

Here’s my dive into what distinguishes each of these from eachother (benchmark and personal notes) and where I noticed they fell on the ‘green scale’ 🫑

A lot of you said Cab Franc seemed to have the most “green”.
I found it to be heavy in Carménère!

✔️ Every month I keep inventory at my own house for my own “cellar” (a full wine rack tagged and organized by country) and I have a system for pulling and adding new wines for blind tasting!

☺️ It’s a little “extra” …but a ‘whole lot of helpful’ and if you live the life of tasting a lot (especially for exams) you can follow this system to build up an evolving collection of wines for blind tasting WITHOUT dropping a ton of money at once!
